I just finished watching EVA. That link up there is exactly what I named it - welcome to Toasty Frog's Thumbnail Theatre of Neon Genesis Evangelion....

....am I the only person on this earth who is not 100% in love with the Lord of the Rings movie?

Apparently so. Oh, well. ^_^ *coughs* I won't rant, because I promised, but...

Okay - the movie is one of the best ones I've ever seen. Literally. The music, special effects, acting, etc. (and of COURSE plot) were phenomenal; but... eh. I LOVE Tolkien's works. As in, next to the Bible. As in, I KNOW them very well... and...

I wouldn't be upset, you see, if the director had not been promising for TWO YEARS that this was going to be accurate to the books. I understood some things would have to be changed, certainly, for the sake of time and coherency. However, there were unnecessary changes that really hurt the plot.

Example - Merry and Pippin were stupid, comic relief in this movie. Nothing more; and yet in the books, while lacking in street smarts, they were actually relatively clever - and play a LARGE part in book two. I'm not entirely sure how he planned to resurrect their IQ's for the next movie.

Then there's the entire issue of Lothlorien. Yes, it's beautiful. But the woods were GOLD. Remember? GOLD. WARM. HEALING. As opposed to CREEPY. COLD. GREY.

Galadriel - warm and lovely. Galadriel - freaky and drugged.

Do I really need to go on? I don't mind things that HAVE to be changed... but REALLY. There comes a point when changes are being made just because the director believes he CAN, and that annoys me.

And let's not even go into the odd Predator-Orc issue (not to mention the being-born-from-mud bit... where did THAT come from? o_O)

Eh... so, as you can see, the movie's marvelous, IMO. But the accuracy is WAY off. I'm not going to list the rest of the problems, because that would be bitchy, and I'd probably get flamed, and I'm sure no one else was bothered by such things as the orc-mud-bits which were obviously thrown in just for the gross value. ~_^ Just... don't say it's gonna be accurate if it isn't... *stops now* *see, Isa?* *being good... it wasn't TOO bad a rant....*

Lookit! Mary Sue on Meth!

Remember that Mary Sue in Hell fic I started a couple of years ago? Well, I finally have time to work on it. ^^ I acutally have two chapters up!

I think, because it's been so long since I worked on it, I'd better give you the intro to this thing first:

Well, you know, I got to thinking one day, and it occurred to me that that's an awful lot for one person to do. I mean, really - with my bizarre interests, my Mary Sue has so much on her platter that I'm surprised she hasn't rioted. ...and then came this fic. My apologies to all of you. ^_^;;

Suffice it to say the concept of a Mary Sue who'd gone crackers is an amusing one to me. ^_^ Enjoy!

You might want to re-read the first two chapters if you've read them before - I changed something. Nothing major; you might just say I added a point of view. ^_^ Eh, it was an idea....

Oh, and BTW - I have seen the Lord of the Rings movie; twice. I have a review to give, but later. It'll be... rather long.

Let me just say this: Peter Jackson made a beautiful movie. An excellent Hollywood production, filled with excellent acting, and some of the best special effects I've ever seen.

However, I am very, very disappointed.

For two years, Jackson has been promising that he would create a movie ACCURATE to the film; yes, some things would be altered for the sake of time, we all understood that - but that he would, in truth, maintain accuracy to the book at every point he could afford.

This, he did not do; in fact, there are many things that were altered that not only did not need to be, but are in DIRECT OPPOSITION to the book itself - as in, opposite. As in, inaccurate. As in, Jackson lied.

I'll go into it later; believe it, I've seen LOTR twice (weird story - don't ask), and I have a rant coming. I'm actually trying to calm DOWN before I go into it.

Two years I waited for this... and to see what he COULD have done with it - and did NOT do...

Oh. So he wasn't raped. No, he just got dragged naked into his house and had cursed symbols carved into his body. That's EVER so much better... :p
